Dennis Healy

"I have been an artist and painting all my life. I started when i was 11 years old after being diagnosed with diabetes (insulin dependent) and was in hospital for many weeks and to pass the time I started drawing and in my 20's i applied for jobs at the newspaper, drawing cartoons. I didn't get the job but it started a passion that's been with me all my life. 

My first works were with coloured pencils and i received a second prize at the Nambour show. One of the judges told me if I framed my work i would have received first place. I moved on to oil paints and this went for some time until acrylic paints were available. Now most of my work is acrylic.

I am also red/green colour blind and this makes for some interesting colour combinations."
